Welcome to the wiki for Mrs. Altman's looping group!!
Welcome! For all of you who are new to this type of communication - me too!! So just browse around and if you have any questions feel free to ask me (then I'll go check with the computer whiz at the school here) and we'll figure it out! Things you can find on our wiki are updates on things happening in the classroom, and sign up sheets for volunteers, conferences, field trips, etc.. You can also ask questions and make comments. What's a wiki?
A wiki is an online document that can be edited right inside the web browser, which means you can edit the pages in our wiki! As the administrator for our wiki, I have locked some pages so informaiton does not get lost or changed. However, some pages, like volunteer lists, student work, and conference times will be left unlocked. Anyone with a username and password will be able to use the edit button and make changes to the page. Just make sure that you don't change someone else's work (other than basic spelling/grammar) without asking them. Here's a fun video that shows what a wiki is and how it can be used:

I was wondering what day the Open House was on?
The Open House is on Thursday, September 11th from 5:00-6:30. I will be sending home an invitation on Wednesday as a reminder.

Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know that if you are interested in getting the homework on our wiki, simply click on homework in the sidebar. Then click on the week you are interested in and it will be downloaded onto your computer. Hope this helps!! Mrs. Altman - Susan :)

Dear Parents,
I wanted to let you know that it is not mandatory that your student attend goal setting conferences. If you would prefer to take these 20 minutes to discuss your child one on one I would be happy to do that. Feel free to decide what would work best for you but just make sure to go over the goal setting form with your child beforehand so they are part of the goal setting process. Thanks so much, Susan

Both Julie and I will be out of town on Monday, October 13 and will not be able to hlp in class that day. If anyone else could help that morning.....we'd LOVE it and you'd have fun! We usually help from 8.15 till about 9.30 (I'm sure this time could be flexible) If you would like to help that day please let Susan, Julie or myself know.

Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know that our class will be participating in a "Nature Awareness Day" field trip on October 9th from 11:30-3:10. Students will need to bring a sack lunch and dress appropriately for an afternoon at the park. I am also looking for a couple of volunteers to join us. If you are interested please let me know. Tina has planned a fabulous Halloween Party for friday, October 31st after the parade. We have placed a plastic pumpkin in the classroom to collect donations to reimburse her for all the craft materials, etc. she has purchased. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. I just wanted to let you know that you can now sign up for your March 4th conference time on the "conference sign-up" page. You can get to it from the sidebar menu here on the homepage. Once you are on the sign-up page just click on "edit," add your name, and then click on "save." If you have any questions please feel free to email me or comment here on the wiki. Thanks, Susan P.S.
